The challenge

In the current housing market international students are largely underserved as they often start off in a vulnerable position. Especially, newcomers who need to find accomodation before coming to Rotterdam oftentimes need to pay a hefty premium to receive housing. The fact that the housing supply is severely constrained also adds to the problem. Housing platforms usually only provide rudimentary information on the apartment, omitting any profiles of the current residents, as they can afford keeping this subpar quality in a market of great demand. This lack of transparancy not only causes the international students tremendous uncertainty, it also leads to bad accomodation decisions which a lot of students regret in hindsight.

The solution

To circumvent this obvious problem we offer a platform which gives students a clear overview of the apartments and rooms available with our housing partners. In addition to this we also provide information on the current tenants of each offering in the form of comprehensive profiles. This way a lot more transparency can be enabled in the decision making process for which apartment to chose. The students looking for accommodation can then weigh with which other students they would most like to move in and apply to them with clear expectations. On the other side of the equation we also offer the landlords as well as the current tenants with a complete profile of the applicants on which they can then base their decision on as to whether invite them to a viewing. Through this feature we solve the detrimental problem of intransparancy that is currently astoundingly prevalent.

We believe in a future in which students, including international ones, can approach their housing search with a calm and confident mind that they will find a home with suitable roommates. Through our platform they will be able to screen a vast amount of available apartments for the ideal match in terms of location, roommates and house quality.
